When we’re learning to draw, it’s easy to experiment with every tool under the sun. But nothing builds foundational skills quite like a simple pencil. Working in graphite teaches us how pressure affects line, texture, and tone, and it’s one of the most effective ways to explore value through shading. In this presentation, local artist and urban sketcher Gabriel Campanario will share how he uses pencil in his regular sketching practice and  discuss examples from his sketchbooks.
